FRENCH’S FOREST, New South Wales, Australia, 25 June 2008 – The Attorney General’s Office in Canberra announced that it has purchased an undisclosed number of CR1 suits for its police from the global leader in personal protection equipment (PPE) Remploy Frontline. These suits will allow police services throughout Australia to better manage hazardous situations – from terror attacks to crowd control during toxic industrial chemical incidents – for prolonged periods of time in the most extreme weather conditions. This follows on a significant purchase earlier of Remploy Frontline’s popular Mk IV suits.
One of the distinguishing benefits of Remploy Frontline’s CR1 is the significantly reduced “body burden” and increased manoeuvrability in some of the world’s warmest climes – such as those found in Australia.
Remploy Frontline provides a total CBRNE PPE solution (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosives) as part of its new global customer-centric approach. This ensures that Remploy Frontline can comprehensively fulfil a customer’s requirements to the highest standards. Remploy Frontline provides civilian and military organisations worldwide with market leading CBRNE suits that are fully integrated with other specific PPE elements, from respiration masks to overboots.
Steve Field, Leading Senior Constable of the Victoria Police Force Response Unit in Australia said of the CR1: “Recently, I attended the APEC conference and wore the CR1 suit. I found it to be very good kit! The 'next-to-skin' garment was surprisingly comfortable, after a short time you almost forgot that you were wearing it under your business suit. Overall, I found it extremely functional and well thought out for our needs.”
Remploy Frontline Global Business Manager John Armstrong said: “Many civilian authorities around the globe are getting used to the way the world is changing. Each now accepts that they too must face an increasing threat level, like the US and other Western nations.”
“So, each must do all they can to prepare. This means equipping the public safety services across Australia with the best available PPE, like the CR1 ensemble, in order to best manage and respond to any CBRNE situations.”
